NZNO and the Department of Corrections' prison health services
have embarked on a joint healthy workplaces project. The project
recognises care, workplace culture, quality and safety, leadership,
skill, team and working tools as important to achieving healthy
workplaces. A national group has been formed to start work on the
project, with the next step the establishment of seven area groups
covering prisons in Christchurch; Otago/Invercargill, Wellington;
Whanganui/Manawatu/New Plymouth; Hawke's Bay/Tongariro Rangipo;
Waikeria/Springhill; and Auckland/Northland. These groups will be made
up of an NZNO organiser, delegates, the health centre manager and team
leader health or a senior nurse. Nominations for NZNO delegates will be
called shortly. Hospice negotiations to begin The bargaining process for the renewal of the hospice multi-employer collective agreement is underway, with nomination forms for the negotiating team sent out early this month. Claim endorsement meetings will be held late this month and early next. NZNO organiser Mike Yeats and Stephanie Thomas will be NZNO's advocates. |
