Full Text: Health consultancy Digital Indigenous has been selected to Lead clinical Leadership training for the national Maori nursing and midwifery workforce development programme, Nga Manukura o Apopo.

Executive director of nursing with the AuckLand District Health Board and Nga Manukura o Apopo sponsor, Taima Campbell, says the training programme is designed to provide emerging and advanced Maori Leaders in nursing and midwifery with theory, practical tools and opportunities to gain the skills and knowledge to take on and excel in clinical leadership. Training will be provided to one cohort of emerging leaders and one cohort of advanced Leaders each year for four years.

The training programme would introduce participants to a variety of topics focusing on Maori leadership styles, communication techniques, project management and building teams. It would also encourage them to reflect on their own capabilities and strengths.

The first advanced Leaders' training programme begins at the end of October and will be for Maori nurses and midwives already in relatively senior positions. A programme for emerging leaders begins next April. Enrolment forms are on
