Full Text: With the creation of the dental therapist in Alaska in 2005, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation announced it will spend $16 million to support efforts in five states-Ohio, Kansas, New Mexico, Vermont and Washington. The Foundation supports the dental therapist model to address access to dental care in the targeted states. In 2009, the state of Minnesota authorized the creation of a dental therapist who will be allowed to perform basic preventive and restorative procedures.
