Ratification meetings for the proposed hospice multi-employer
collective agreement (MECA) were due to begin in the middle of this
month. No details of the proposed MECA were available when Kai Tiaki
Nursing New Zealand went to press, as negotiations with two of the three
new parties to the MECA, Rotorua and Lake Taupo hospices, were still
underway. Both had very different terms and conditions in their existing
agreements and a lot of work was required to translate them to the
proposed MECA, NZNO co-advocate Mike Yeats said. Yeats expected the work
to be finished by the end of last month. Sixteen hospices are parties to the proposed MECA. The current MECA, which expired on March 31, covers more than 300 NZNO members. |
