The idea for this recipe book came about as Social Marketing
Asociation, Ibis and the Legal Assistance Centre sat down to brainstorm
ideas for the first Tusano conference. Tusano is a project working with
six post test clubs for those infected and affected by HIV and Aids in
five regions of Namibia: Windhoek, Rundu, Katima Mulilo, Walvis Bay and
When thinking about the theme of healthy eating the groups decided to try to put theory into practice and serve healthy, locally available Namibian food during the conference, so that they could see that eating healthily doesn't have to be difficult or expensive.
They realised that they did not want to eat well for just the duration of the conference, but for days, weeks, months and years to come. Ibis then came up with the bright idea of producing a recipe book that everyone could take back to their kitchens and use as a guide and inspiration when preparing their daily meals, and so help to keep body and soul together.
