Full Text: Under ADAA Trustee Sue Camizzi's leadership, the Connecticut, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania Dental Assistants Associations hosted their first Annual Dental Assisting Student Day during the Greater New York meeting on Wednesday, November 30, 2011.

Students from New York and New Jersey schools, including Monmouth County Vocational School, Drake College of Business (Newark), Drake College of Business (Elizabeth), Stony Brook University and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey attended along with their faculty about 75 students in all.

Speakers included ADAA President--Elect Carolyn Breen, Cindy Drucks and Kim McMahon, from the faculty at UMDNJ'S Department of Allied Dental Education. Topics included: Development of a Professional Portfolio; Opportunities for Professional and Career Advancement; and Taking Professional Involvement Beyond the Workplace. A presentation from ADAA President Claudia Pohl on the new SADAA Chapters was also made. Thanks to Ms. Breen for her work in organizing the event.

Plans are being made for another event during next year's meeting. Congratulations to Stony Brook University, which has filed their SADAA Chapter paperwork.
