Spring is here at long last, signaling a time of renewed hope and
energy. Bright colors and sunny skies are replacing the dreary gray of
winter and I'm starting to see flowers pushing their way up through
the softening soil. This is the perfect season for the Journal to focus
on the environment and what dental assistants can do to help care for
the world we live in. Kevin Henry from PennWell provides our feature
article, giving simple tips to "green" your dental office that
can make a big difference. ADAA President Angela M. Swatts discusses the
steps ADAA is taking to be more environmentally friendly and the U.S.
Air Force Dental Service presents the environmental benefits of using
digital radiography. The Journal is also doing its part to care for the environment. The magazine is printed using American-produced soy ink and is fully recyclable. The printing company that produces the Journal recycles nearly 100% of its by-product, utilizes recycled materials in theft manufacturing processes wherever possible and employs a recovery system to capture any heavy metals from film processing, thereby ensuring a safe and healthy environment around the printing facility. Springtime also means that it's time to start planning for your trip to Orlando, Fla., to attend the 2010 ADAA Annual Session. Our preliminary guide will help you plan to make the most out of your attendance. Go to www.ada.org/goto/session and register today! The Journal also interviews ADAA Member Director to the ADAA Foundation Cathy J. Roberts about the Foundation's work with ADAA. Also in this issue is the first Journal CE Course for 2010, "Oral Health Maintenance for Dental Implants," the U.S. Army Dental Command names the winners of the Best Warrior competition and 1st District Trustee Virginia Cairrao explains the importance of recognizing the achievements of your fellow dental assistants by nominating them for ADAA's annual awards. As always, thank you for reading and happy spring! |
