The JCCA is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Jeff Quon DC, PhD as JCCA Assistant Editor effective with the June 2009 issue.
Dr. Quon has been an Editorial Board member for many years serving as a reviewer in the JCCA's peer-review process and brings excellent editorial skills to the JCCA. He is an epidemiologist and a Clinical Assistant Professor in the School of Population and Public Health at the University of British Columbia.
Dr. Quon graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) in 1986. He completed a postgraduate residency program in clinical sciences in 1988 and became a Fellow of the College of Chiropractic Sciences (CCS) in 1989.
Dr. Quon completed a Master of Health Science (MHSc) degree in 1999, and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in epidemiology in 2007 at the University of British Columbia. During his doctoral studies, he was awarded a University Graduate Fellowship, a Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research Doctoral Fellowship, a Canadian Institutes of Health Research/Canadian Chiropractic Research Foundation/BC College of Chiropractors Postdoctoral Fellowship, and a Hy and Lee Schechter Scholarship.
Dr. Quon's current research interests include the efficacy and effectiveness of conservative interventions for neck and back pain, the determinants of occupational musculoskeletal injuries, and the determinants of geographic and temporal variations in rates of surgical procedures for neck and back disorders.
Dr. Quon will join JCCA's Dr. Greg Kawchuk DC, PhD and Dr. Pierre Cote DC, PhD in this new role.
Dr. Kawchuk is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. This is the only free standing Faculty of Rehabilitation in Canada. He is a Canada Research Chair in Spinal Function and the only chiropractor in Canada to hold this distinguished research position.
Dr. Cote is an Associate Professor of Epidemiology at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto. He is also a Scientist in the Health Care and Outcomes Research Program and at the Centre for Research Expertise in Improved Disability Outcomes (CREIDO) at the Toronto Western Research Institute, University Health Network. These programs are located at the Toronto Western Hospital.
