This book and accompanying video are designed to survey the various kinds of informational audiovisual media. It therefore puts aside fiction to concentrate exclusively on reality-based programming. The author is Professor of Audiovisual Information at Complutense University, Madrid, Spain.

The book's eighteen chapters are distributed among four sections. 1) Generos expresivos y testimoniales en radio y television (Expressive and testimonial genres in radio and television), including editorials, commentaries, criticism, and chronicles; 2) Generos referenciales o expositivos en radio y television (Referential or expositive genres in radio and television), including news, reporting, investigative reporting, the journalistic report, the informative documentary, and the docudrama; 3) Generos apelativos o dialogicos en radio y television (Appelative or dialogical genres in radio and television), including interviews, opinion polls, press conferences and press conferences in the studio, colloquial and debate genres, participation of the public in dialogues; 4) Generos informativos audiovisuales en otros medios (Informative audiovisual genres in other media), including graphic journalism, informational cinema, and informational video genres.

There are footnotes, but no cumulative list of references and no index.
