Negotiations with the country's Largest aged-care provider,
Oceania, begin next month, with preparations being finalised this month.
The issues for negotiations, the negotiating team and the ratification
process were to be confirmed at member meetings this month. A survey
Last month asked members to rank the following issues in order of
importance: healthy workplaces; pay and conditions; training; and
funding. Auckland-based organiser David Wait will be NZNO's lead
advocate, supported by organisers Carla Palmer and Simone Montgomery,
with Alistair Duncan the Lead advocate for the Service and Food
Workers' Union (SFWU). Negotiations with aged-care provider MetLife Care began in Auckland this month, preceeded by a day's training for the joint NZNO/SFWU team. McGrath is co-advocating with organiser Carla Palmer, with support from enrolled nurse delegate from Oakwoods in Richmond, Nelson, Jenny Thomson. Duncan is the SFWU advocate. MetLife Care has 12 aged-care facilities throughout the country. Negotiations are scheduled for next month at Manuka St Hospital, Nelson, a highly unionised, community-trust owned surgical facility. |
